Interested citizens should fill out the application form for boards and commissions found below or in the County Auditor’s Office in the courthouse. Preference in appointment will be based on gender to comply with Iowa gender equity law.

Board of Health
Local Board of Health shall consist of at least five members. At least one member shall be licensed as a physician under Chapter 148. Board members shall serve for a term of three years.
Chickasaw County Ambulance Advisory Committee
Conservation Board
This five member board provides guidance and oversees operations of county Conservation department. Appointees serve five year terms.
County Compensation Board
The County Compensation Board recommends to the Board of Supervisors the annual compensation of the auditor, treasurer, recorder, sheriff, county attorney and supervisors based on Iowa law. The Compensation Board consists of two appointees by the Board of Supervisors and one appointee each by the County Auditor, Attorney, Recorder, Sheriff and Treasurer. Appointees serve four year terms.
County Pioneer Cemetery Commission
The County Pioneer Cemetery Commission comprised of five members appointed by the Board of Supervisors, established by County Ordinance, assumes jurisdiction and management of pioneer cemeteries in Chickasaw County. The Commission has all of the powers and duties relating to pioneer cemeteries which may otherwise be exercised by Township Trustees except the Commission does not have the authority to certify a tax levy. Term of office is three years.

Planning Commission
The seven member Planning Commission develops the comprehensive land use plan and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, reviews major subdivision changes and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors as requested on other land-related issues. Appointees serve five year terms.
Veteran Affairs Commission
The five member Veteran Affairs Commission provides guidance and oversees operations of the Veteran Affairs department. Appointees serve three year terms. Appointees must be veterans.
