NOTICE OF INTENT TO FILL VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF THE CHICKASAW
COUNTY AUDITOR BY APPOINTMENT
YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors intends to fill
the vacancy in the Office of the Chickasaw County Auditor by appointment pursuant to Iowa
Code Section 69.14A(2)(a) (2022).
YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED that the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors intends to
appoint an individual to fill the vacancy in the Office of the Chickasaw County Auditor at the
regular weekly business meeting that begins at 9:00 a.m. on August 8, 2022, and takes place on
the second floor of the Chickasaw County Courthouse in New Hampton.
YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED that any individual interested in being appointed to fill the
vacancy in the Office of the Chickasaw County Auditor shall submit his/her name to the
Chickasaw County Auditor’s Office at 8 E. Prospect Street in New Hampton by 4:00 p.m. on
August 5, 2022. In accordance with Iowa Code Section 69.14A(2)(a)(1) (2022), an individual
shall have actually resided in Chickasaw County at least sixty days prior to appointment.
YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED that pursuant to Iowa Code Section 69.14A(2)(a)(1) (2022),
the appointment shall be for the period until the next general election in November of 2022. In
accordance with Iowa Code Section 69.14A(2)(b) (2022), because the vacancy occurred after the
date of the primary election and more than seventy-three days before the date of the next general
election, there will be no special election and the office automatically will be listed on the
general election ballot in November of 2022 as “To Fill Vacancy”; the individual elected will
assume office as soon as a certificate of election is issued and the individual qualifies by taking
the oath of office, and the individual elected then shall serve the balance of the unexpired term.
