Public Notice for the 2022 Primary Election
PUBLIC NOTICE
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualified Voters of Chickasaw County, State of Iowa, in Accordance with Chapter 49.53 of the Iowa Code, that the Primary Election will be held in all election precincts of Chickasaw County, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
The polls for said election will be open at 7:00 AM until 8:00 PM. VOTERS MUST VOTE AT THEIR ASSIGNED PRECINCTS. Please read this notice carefully to determine your correct polling location. Voting locations have changed for some voters.
NOTICE OF CHANGE IS HEBRY GIVEN to the qualified Voters of Chickasaw County, State of Iowa, in Accordance with Chapter 49.23 of the Iowa Code that the decennial census and its corresponding redistricting process re-drew legislative boundaries resulting in several polling location changes within Chickasaw County. Boundaries are established for ten years. Precincts and polling places have changed for many residents. The new precincts went into effect on January 15, 2022, and the first scheduled election using the new precincts is the Primary Election. Postcards with your polling places were mailed May 19, 2022. If voters have question about their precinct location, they may refer to their voter cards, the county website: www.chickasawcountyelections.iowa.gov or contact the Election Office at 641-394-2100.

Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered-such as voters registering to vote on election day-and voters changing precincts must also provide proof or residence. A voter who is unable to provide and approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) may 1) have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct 2) prove identify and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the County Auditor’s Office by Noon on Monday, June 13, 2022. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. ELECTION FRAUD.A voter commits the crime of election Misconduct in the First Degree if the person submits false information when registering to vote. Election misconduct in the first degree is a class “D” felony, and punishable by a fine of up to $10,245 and/or imprisonment of up to five (5) years. Convicted felons who register and vote without receiving a restoration of voting rights from the Governor are committing a class “D” felony. IF YOUR ARE NOT 100% SURE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE HAS ALREADY BEEN RESTORED, REQUEST A PROVISIONAL BALLOT.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that any voter who requires assistance to vote by reason of blindness, disability, or inability to read or write may be given assistance by a person of the voter’s choice, other than the voter’s employer or agent of that employer or officer or agent of the voter’s union.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, in accordance with Chapter 49.53 of the Iowa Code that any voter who is physically unable to enter the polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle. For further information, please contact the County Auditor’s office at the telephone number or E-mail address listed. Each polling location is equipped with a ballot marking device (FVT) which may assist persons with disabilities to vote more independently.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, in accordance with Chapter 52.35 of the IOWA CODE that the duly authorized agents of the Chickasaw County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections shall publicly examine and test all voting machines to be used for the June 7, 2022 Election.
PUBLIC TEST FOR VOTING EQUIPMENT. A public test of the voting equipment to be used at the Primary Election will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 9:30 AM in the Meeting room (room behind the Driver’s License) located on the 1st floor of the Courthouse. The public is invited to attend.
SET FORTH herein a complete list of all candidates and public measures are listed below. Ballots issued to voters will contain only those offices the voter is eligible to vote for based on the voter’s residence.
